Hint From Ninnie: Turn the cottage cheese container upside down while storing in fridge and it will last twice as long.
Who knew? After all these years of ruined cottage cheese I could have gotten a few more days out of it by turning the sucker upside down! Okay. I am not really that upset but I did find it an interesting fact and wanted to learn the why so I did a little research. Regina Lewis, AOL Consumer Adviser states, ” By inverting the tub it creates a vacuum effect that stifles the growth of bacteria that can cause the food to spoil.” So save yourself a few bucks by turning those containers upside down and extending a little shelf life! P.S. This works for sour cream too.
