Herbal Astringent Splash

Ninnie wrote that after you have steamed your face your pores will be open and an herbal splash is much-needed.  This splash is necessary to help close pores and complete the transition. Here is one of her recommended infusion recipes. Now you may be thinking…infusion???  Yeah, me too.  See below for some quick easy steps on how to make it. Also, I will be following up with a video “How-To” once I do this myself.

Ninnie’s Recipe

Make an infusion of lady’s mantle, bay leaf, and comfrey, using equal parts of each.  Use cool liquid to splash your face after steaming.

How to make an Herbal Infusion:

  • Place the herbs listed in a glass container such as a mason jar.
  • Boil water .
  • Pour the boiled water in the glass container to cover the herbs.
  • Cover the glass jar/container with a lid to keep the steam.  It is best not to allow any steam to escape.
  • Cool the water to room temperature or steep for about ten minutes and then strain.
  • The liquid is what is called infusion.
Note: An infusion can be kept refrigerated for up to 48hrs.
